EMG is a well researched and effective biofeedback method often used in treatment of chronic pain. It is useful in improving neck pain, back pain, jaw pain, headache and whiplash. It’s use is effective in pain reduction because it measures muscle activity accurately and sensitively. When a muscle is tense it both causes pain and aggravates underlying nerve and muscle damage. By reducing muscle tension not only does the pain become reduced but healing of underlying damage is improved.
